A Tribute to a Beautiful Soul

Noah's first trip to Kings Dominion. He wouldn't ride with me but would ride with Mommaw Nancy. She loved the rides as much as the kids Her 60th birthday     Saturday morning at approximately 2:00 a.m. I got a phone call from Amanda Driver. As soon as I saw her name on my phone, I knew what had happened. Our beloved Nancy had passed away. She was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in the Fall of 2023.      I am having trouble putting my thoughts and feelings into words for this blog and if you know me, you know I am rarely ever without words. This one hurts a little deeper than the others. "Camp Nancy" as I so lovingly called it, entertained Charley for the past 4 summers since I opened the store. When I would pick her up, she would be sweaty, her face red, and she would tell me she had the most fun that day! Nancy & Amanda made crafts with the kids, painted their faces, if you could think of it, they did it.  Jessica would come out when she was of...

What's the purpose?

Gayland & Diane Davis, March 2023     Thursday, I got a phone call from one of my most beloved customers. It was to give me terrible, awful news that I was not prepared for at all. To say I was speechless, would be an understatement, and you know I'm rarely ever speechless. I usually have something "quippy" to say. I had nothing. Then she got upset and I did not know what was going on. I am a sympathetic crier, so it doesn't take much for me to cry too. Diane told me that Gayland was diagnosed with brain cancer and has chosen to live out the rest of his days as best he can. She said they came by the store to tell me in person today, but I had closed early to take Charley to a doctor's appointment. I told her I was glad they couldn't tell me in person because I didn't wan...

Packing your Praise

Courtesy of YouTube     I cannot believe it has been almost a month since I last had a conversation with you, my friends. There has been a whole lot of life going on as I am sure it has been with you as well. I typically look for a sermon from Elevation Church to watch on YouTube while I exercise, it makes the time pass faster if I can watch something, LOL. Last Monday morning I was on the elliptical and watched this sermon by Holly Furtick. In it she talks about when the Israelites fled Egypt in a hurry to get away from Pharoah. They were told to pack everything they could and leave. Miriam was an Israelite. She packed everything she could including a tambourine. Now, if you had to leave your home in a hurry would you remember something like a tambourine? When you go on a trip are you an over packer or do you just pack the necessities? I write down the name of each person in my house I'm packing for and then make a list under their name of what they will need for the trip. So...
