Packing your Praise

I cannot believe it has been almost a month since I last had a conversation with you, my friends. There has been a whole lot of life going on as I am sure it has been with you as well. I typically look for a sermon from Elevation Church to watch on YouTube while I exercise, it makes the time pass faster if I can watch something, LOL. Last Monday morning I was on the elliptical and watched this sermon by Holly Furtick. In it she talks about when the Israelites fled Egypt in a hurry to get away from Pharoah. They were told to pack everything they could and leave. Miriam was an Israelite. She packed everything she could including a tambourine. Now, if you had to leave your home in a hurry would you remember something like a tambourine? When you go on a trip are you an over packer or do you just pack the necessities? I write down the name of each person in my house I'm packing for and then make a list under their name of what they will need for the trip. Sometimes Charley packs some things on her own I don't think are necessary, but I guess we all did that when we were 9. I remember packing notebooks and pens. I'm not sure why maybe back then is when my love for writing started and I just didn't know it.
Back to Miriam. So, the Israelites have left Egypt and fled from Pharoah. They have made it to the Red Sea and the Egyptians are hot on their heels. Moses raises his staff and parts the Red Sea. The Israelites cross and when the Egyptians get to the middle of the sea, Moses lowers his staff and the water carries the Egyptians away - all of them, Pharoah included. When the Israelites are on the other side and the Egyptians are being washed away Miriam gets out her tambourine and starts to play it. Some of the other women also packed their tambourines and get them out and begin to play them and sing praise to the Lord. After all they had been through Miriam is praising the Lord. Holly Furtick talks about not forgetting to pack your praise, when life feels hard, when the money isn't there, when your anxious about your children; Praise the Lord. God has given us what we need for the season we are in.
Everyone goes through season(s) in their life at some point. We think if we can get through this season then life will be grand. Then another season comes and then something else happens and so on and so forth. There will always be seasons in life, we will always be going through or coming out of something. I could bore you to death or bring you to tears with the season my family is in right now, but that's not going to make it any different. God is with us in this season just like all the others. I'm packing my praise! I hope you will see the good in your season and pack your praise! I love you and I'm cheering you on!
Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,
McKession
