I think I will do a reintroduction of sorts. If you are new here, welcome! I'm glad you found this blog and I hope it brings you entertainment, joy, and helps you know you are not alone in this life! Please follow and share!
I'm McKession (pronounced ma-kesh-un) I'm 43 years old and live on my husband's family farm in Middlebrook, VA. My husband and his brother farm the 300+- acres while working full time jobs. We raise beef cattle and have backyard ducks and chickens. We have 4 children, 2 together. They are 23, 18, 10 & 2. I own and operate the Middlebrook Mercantile with my mother-in-law. We are all about being surrounded by family in case you couldn't tell 😄.
I started this blog over a year ago. I was outside and saw something and thought I should take a picture of that and then write a story about it. So, Farmstead Chronicles was birthed. I look around at the beautiful land I live on and see all the hard work that goes into it. I am so grateful to get to live in this area and raise my children this way. It's not always easy (more like hardly ever) but my kids get to experience things that so many kids don't get to experience. It's about life on the farm, life raising kids, life owning a small business and life in general. I always try to keep it real and honest. If it's hard I'm going to tell you it was hard, because let's face it, life these days is HARD! Out here we believe in Jesus and hard work. Everyone has a role to play in this family and we expect something from each of them. Even Noah, although "No" is his favorite word these days and it's driving me bananas. And yes, I did have to sing the Gwen Stefani song to remember how to spell bananas. I'm going to be more intentional about blogging. I take pictures, which turn into blogs. I still see things worth writing about, I'm just struggling to put it into the proper words. I'm going to work on it, look forward to hearing more from me. Until then...
Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,
McKession
