Cherishing Togetherness

9/15/12 - Our wedding day

9/15/24 - Mr. Bill turns 90

9/13/24 - because it's too pretty not to share with the world!!

This weekend was a weekend for celebrating. Garrett & I "celebrated" our 12th anniversary on Sunday. I put "celebrated" in quotes because we actually didn't do anything. I went to church, Garrett farmed, then we went to my mom's to help close the pool for the winter. It's not really about the pomp and circumstance for me. Anniversaries are like Valentine's Day in my opinion, you should show your person you love them daily, not just once (or twice) a year. At the end of the day, we are both just grateful for the other and the role each plays in this marriage. Marriage is not 50/50. Sometimes he is giving more than 50% and sometimes I am. Sometimes I have to be the primary parent and sometimes he does. We are a team, we run this family like a mildly well-oiled machine 😆. When I met Garrett in 2009, I don't think he knew what he was getting himself into. I'm a lot to handle 😏. We had some bumps in the road, took a break and made our way back to one another. We have been going strong ever since. We have our disagreements, if you don't then something is wrong with you, LOL. I have learned though to not hold in how I feel or what I need. I cannot expect him to know what I need, he's not a mind reader, nor do I know all of his needs all the time. We know each other's love language and we try to strive towards that each day. I am grateful I get to share his last name and have this life with him.

Also, on Sunday Mr. Bill turned 90 years old. I have gotten to celebrate the last 5 birthdays with him. I thought I had pictures of the last 4 years at least but have only been able to locate 3 of them. The above picture was taken this year for his 90th. Charley, Noah & I took him balloons and cards we had collected at the store. He was going to dinner with his son Doug and daughter in law Polly and his always stunning wife Ms. Sally. She reminds me of a true southern lady as she is ALWAYS put together. She will celebrate turning 90 in May. He has so many stories to tell of Middlebrook. He has lived here his entire life. He was the postmaster and ran a hardware store (where the library is now) for over 30 years. I love to sit with him and hear his stories. They are like grandparents to the kids and I.

And finally, & most importantly that last picture of God's love to each of us every day. There is no greater love.  Jesus loves you and I do too!

Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,

McKession
