As if...
12 puppies (7 girls, 5 boys)
Maggie and her babies
As if our life wasn't busy enough this week, Maggie had 13 puppies on Monday. Garrett and Charley were home when the fun commenced. It took her ALL day. I went downstairs once I got home to check on her several times and there were more each time 😓. I would go back upstairs to Garrett and whine "Is it ever going to stop?" He would just laugh. We will see if he's still laughing when we are cleaning up after 12 puppies in 4 weeks!
To preface how my week was, I worked Monday - Friday at the Merc, we had Vacation Bible School at my church where I was asked to help with 4th & 5th grade and then 12 puppies. She did have 13 originally but the little runt didn't make it. So I was firing on all cylinders this week. Each morning when I got up to get on my elliptical, I would ask God for the energy to get through that day and He did it (I may or may not have had a Redbull or 2 throughout the week too, but I thank God he got me through each day). Bible School was fun! I remember as a child we would go to VBS with my Grandma and Granddaddy Hinkle. They had this old brown station wagon and my sister and I and the neighborhood kids and other church kids would pile in that thing and Grandma would take us to Fifth St. United Brethren Church where we would spend our evenings learning about Jesus, playing games and eating snacks. I distinctly remember one game called the "telephone game." Someone whispered something in the first persons ear and then that person would have to whisper to the next and on and on, until it got to the last person and then they would have to tell what they heard. Of course, they never heard the same thing that was originally said. It's like real life, it's never the whole or true story!
I didn't take any pictures at VBS because these days you have to be careful what you post online. We had a great time despite the rain! It was a long week, but I'm sure I'll do it again next year. Just like Sharon Chappell said, it's like child birth. We wonder WHY we did this, but we do it again, LOL.
Back to Maggie and the babies. They are all thriving, I can't believe she had 13 puppies! They will be ready to go to their forever homes the end of July. They are Texas Heeler puppies. Maggie is a purebred Australian Shepherd, the dad is a Blue heeler.
It seems life is so crazy busy for everyone these days. It will settle down in the Irvine house and then I'll be driving everyone crazy with something to clean I'm sure 😆. Until then, I'll continue to pray for the energy to get through this day and let tomorrow worry about itself.
Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,
McKession
