Scenic routes

There's just something about back roads and scenic routes. When I was younger we used to call them "Sunday drivers" when people would drive so slow looking at things. It drove me crazy! Sometimes, it still does. Tuesday morning I was driving to work and thinking look at the beauty around me. So I decided to stop and take pictures of it (right in the middle of the road - that's the joy of the back road). I was looking down through Middlebrook Village as I came into town and had to take a picture of the small town. It really is like taking a step back in time. Everyone knows everyone. The neighborhood kids walk to the Mercantile and the library. Traffic does go entirely too fast through there, if they would slow down they might see more of the beauty too. I turned on Mish Barn and this scene just about took my breath away. It was amazing! These are just 2 of the scenic roads I am fortunate enough to travel daily.

When you come into town, you will see Ashley at the post office and me at the Mercantile. We had to get a fun picture jumping in the middle of the street. Ashley and I look out for each other. She's at the post office and I'm at the store and sometimes we are the only people in town. She's like another mom to Charley and her own children joke and call Charley her "favorite daughter." Some days we stand at our respective doors and talk to each other across the street. She's always so upbeat and put together! Girl knows how to put up the mail quick, fast and in a hurry too!

I hope you get to take the scenic route and see the beautiful sites like I do in my little town in your town. I don't have a stoplight in my normal travels unless I go to town. When I worked at Marks & Harrison they used to laugh when I told them I didn't have a stoplight until I got to the office. Not everyone is that fortunate. When I was in high school I used to dream of living in a big city because I grew up in the country. We didn't have pizza delivery and had to drive for what seemed forever to go anywhere  I still have to drive for what seems like forever and still don't have pizza delivery! But I appreciate the scenic route much more nowadays. Life is a little different out here, sometimes it smells like a poultry house and sometimes like manure. But I wouldn't change it for anything. I hope you enjoy your scenic route, however and wherever that may be!

Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,

McKession
