Cousin Connection

There's a lot going on behind the house - hence the reason it's in the BACK YARD!

Saturday, I got to spend the whole day at home. It was WONDERFUL after a busy week! Garrett & Colby were working on farm equipment and going to spray a hay field, so Sawyer stayed and hung out with us. He doesn't come very often anymore because he's a teenager and can stay home by himself, but he came up this Saturday. He and Charley love to "fight." They wrestle around in the yard A LOT. He's really good with Charley & Noah. For the longest time around here, he was an "only child." There weren't any cousins on this side of the family for him to play with. I usually get some work out of him too 😄. This time he painted some boards for me.

I have A LOT of cousins! Growing up we were all together at some point. Many of us spent a lot of time with/at Grandma Isabel & Granddaddy's house (some of the cousins called him "Pap-pap.") At any given time, there were 2-3 cousins at their house. My sister, Atasha, and I were very close to our cousin Drew. We spent even more time at Aunt Kim & Uncle Bubbi's house than we did at Grandma & Granddaddy's. Atasha, Drew & I climbed trees, played in the creek, rode our bikes (and pretended we were bus drivers) as we rode around the yard. I swore Drew was going to be a bus driver when he grew up! He is not. We of course fought a lot too! Especially Drew & Atasha. One time he smacked her in the back, and she started to walk home and SWORE she was never coming back there. She got over it. We were very close. I always told him he was my favorite cousin 😂. I'm so thankful I have the big family I do and got to grow up with my cousins. They were like more siblings. My children have many cousins also. While they didn't/don't spend the time at their houses like we used to do they still have each other. I'm grateful for that.

So, Sawyer and Charley fought, didn't talk to each other for a little bit and got over it and will do it all over again the next time he is here.

Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,

McKession
