Questions - so many questions
my sweet girl
Earlier this week Charley overheard a friend talking to me about the news and what's going on in Israel. When we drove away, she had SO MANY QUESTIONS. I welcome questions from my children, because I would rather them hear it from me than from a friend/peer. I tell them the truth, good, bad or uncomfortable. She started asking me questions like "what's going on in Israel?" "can't Jesus stop all of this?" "When is Jesus coming back?" and what does this mean or that mean? I was honest with her and said, Charley I don't watch the news, so I don't really know what's going on in Israel. I don't think I have ever really been a news watcher, but I most definitely stopped watching/listening to the news in 2020. It gave me anxiety. In my opinion, you cannot believe anything you hear on the news, especially since 2020. So, I just don't watch it. I told her I had read the bible from Genesis - Revelations and Jesus is absolutely coming back. When not even He knows. My Granddaddy used to preach about the end times A LOT when I was a kid. It would scare me to death. I wanted to grow up and get married and have kids and then I wanted to see my kids grow up, etc... Charley is having the same "worries" now that I had back then. Her first thought was "I want to get my driver's license, mom." Bless her heart. I said I know you do. You need to remember though that you will go to Heaven because you have asked Jesus into your heart and been baptized. And we can only imagine how beautiful that will be! Yes, Jesus can stop all of this, but sometimes Jesus lets "you do you" and when we come to our senses, he's ALWAYS there.
Her concerns are very valid. Adults have the same concerns, and we are old enough to process them. She is 9 and is learning to process her thoughts and fears. Of course, me being the exceptional mom I am 😂 said Charley, you need to talk to Granddad 😏. Granddad (Tom) is a preacher and can more accurately and effectively answer her questions. Thank God for Granddad, because this momma started to feel bad for saying I don't know so much, but remember I said I am honest with my children and if I don't know, I tell them I don't know. This conversation with her just got me thinking about what a scary world we are living in. If it's scary for us, can you imagine how scary it is for them? Just hug them tight, tell them Jesus loves them (and you do too - in the words of my Grandma Isabel) and most importantly teach them about Jesus! The Middlebrook Church of God sign this week says, "Time is short, hell is Hot, Jesus is coming, ready or not." They have the best sayings on their signs.
I still won't watch the news; I will just pray for Israel. I hope you do to.
Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,
McKession
