It has been entirely too long since I blogged. So much life has been happening and then I don't see one specific thing that I think I NEED to write about. This post is a collaboration of our life lately... We have had 5/8 first time heifers' calf, we had 2 stillborn calves, but were able to find replacement calves for them, so they're happy mommas. Last Sunday Garrett found one laying in the field and the momma wasn't tending to it, so he picked it up and brought it home - inside my house. We got out the baby pool and some blankets and the heater and started the process of warming him up. We keep milk replacer on hand for times such as these, so Garrett made him a bottle and we got him to eat a little bit. I had gone back upstairs to continue what I was doing and left Charley downstairs with the calf. The next thing I know, I hear this "mooooooo" and go down to find the calf trying to stand up in the baby pool. The second picture is the calf standing outside, ready to go back to his momma. He is thriving and playing with the other babies in the field.

My niece Karah plays basketball at my alma mater, Buffalo Gap. The Lady Bison had a really good season and were so close at a shot at the state title, but it didn't happen this year. They lost the game before the state championship. It was sad for them, but Karah has one more season. I didn't realize what a physical sport basketball was, ya'll, they need protection on that court. It was crazy!!

The week before last Garrett got the flu and Charley had strep throat. Noah and I had to do the barn chores. He's a good barn helper to only be 2. He carried feed buckets and held gates and help water. He's very independent! He loves the farm animals! He goes right in with them (cows, pigs, goats) doesn't matter to him. He's ready for it. I love that!

Last week I got the flu and was out of commission for the week. It's "Flu A" they called it (the respiratory one) I can typically push through sickness. I have been a single mom before, and a lot of people depend on me. But I could not push through this one. I felt like I had been run over by a truck. I then reminded myself that I am gratefully not a single mom anymore and have help. My mom came one day to help with Noah who was also home that particular day not feeling well himself. Janice, Holly & Karley ran the store so my village wouldn't starve to death (they will tell you they do if I'm not open 😏) and Garrett picked up the slack at home. I did rest for the week and am feeling back to my normal self. So back to the grind next week.

I have enjoyed the warm weather and especially the sunshine this week! I sat outside about every day and just soaked it up. I got up to my sweet she shed and spent some time up here in the quiet. I still love this little shed, and the view of the top of the hill is one of the best around here. I am so ready for warm weather to stay! Noah loves to be outside, and I do too!

I hope everyone is feeling good and trucking right along! I'll be looking for the next picture to write about. Thanks for sharing in my life! 💗

Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,

McKession
