Farm Days at Creambrook Farm
HELLO! Can you believe we are in the last quarter of 2024?!?!? Where has the time gone?? I think I say that with every blog I write. It is moving at warp speed. I like to do a Q4 review of goals, finances, etc... it's how I prepare for the upcoming new year and see what new goals I want to set. Thanksgiving is only 11 days away; someone has a birthday in 9 days βand Christmas is only 5 weeks away. Ya'll get ready to eat and be merry! This is my favorite time of year! I get to be with my family and just the holiday spirit makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
As usual, there has been a lot going on out here in the middle of nowhere both on the farm and at the store. The store is getting into the "slow" season, but I am believing God is going to carry us through like he has for the last 5 years because I believe that what I am doing is where God wants me to be. Today in church Pastor Dave preached about having Victory in Jesus and that we have ALWAYS had what we needed. God has ALWAYS provided a way even when we couldn't see it. PD was right. He has ALWAYS seen us through. As for the farm, the goats are misbehaving and causing Garrett some frustration. Once we get them moved down to our house where I can keep a closer eye on them well, we will all be happier. I even bought them collars with bells on them. Garrett rolled his eyes when I showed him. Rude! He still continues to put up with my shenanigans and just goes with it. I love him! The cows are being cows... they are pregnant and getting ready for winter. We took the bull out to give him a break and he is looking rested and gaining some weight. I guess 30ish ladies will wear you out π. Charley, Noah, Garrett, Colby & I got the cows in a couple of weeks ago to sort. I did not take any pictures because when you're working cows with your husband and brother-in-law, you just do what you're told. If you know you know. I am good at taking instructions, but sometimes those cows are stubborn! We had one that was determined she was NOT coming in, so she went through the fence. Yep, it was crazy to watch. I said Well there she goes and took about 4 calves with her. The guys were mad to say the least. I looked at my watch and said, "look at the time, I have to go home and cook." It wasn't a lie; it was perfect timing for me.
The chicken ladies are happy and growing. I have 6 hens that are laying now and still have 8 more to go. I LOVE those chickens and going out to gather the eggs each day. It's like Christmas every day. I talk to them, and they know my voice. It's funny to hear them cluck back at me, like I speak "chickenese" or something. We have a mutual understanding, I will feed them and keep them safe, they will continue to provide eggs... that I do not eat, yet. It's a mind thing for me and I will get over it. It's just going to take some time.
Cheer season is over for Charley, and she wants to play basketball so that will be her next adventure. Charley & I are clogging now too, and it is SO FUN ya'll! I have wanted to clog for a long time now but thought I was too old, but you are never too old I am learning. Noah wants to do whatever Daddy is doing, these days that's hunting. He can tell you what "we do" when we see a deer and has to take his toy gun with him to the woods with daddy. The deer just run into the side of my car, literally. The older boys are working and being adults. I'm grateful for that and them too!
I hope you all are getting rest while you can and preparing for the holiday season. I hope it is filled with whatever you want it to be filled with, that you have plenty to eat, and can feel the love that surrounds you. Talk to you soon!
Wishing you sunny skies and green pastures,
McKession
